How To Use Planoly on the Mobile App (Beta)
This guide walks you through how to use the Planoly mobile app to plan, create, and manage your social content on the go. Whether you're scheduling posts, organizing your media, or keeping tabs on what's live. Here's everything you need to know.
Where do I get the app?
Android: Download the latest Planoly app directly from the Google Play Store. Search for "Planoly," install it, and log in with your Planoly account credentials. Updates on and after launch day will be available directly through Google Play.
iOS: The updated Planoly app isn't available on the App Store yet. iOS Beta users need to install it via TestFlight instead — see How to Get the Updated Planoly App on iPhone (via TestFlight) for step-by-step instructions.
Navigating the App
Bottom Navigation Bar
The bottom navigation bar is your main way to move around the app. It has five tabs:
- Grid (squares icon) — Your main planning view. See your content across your workspace.
- Calendar (calendar icon) — View your scheduled and published posts by date.
- + (plus button) — Create a new post, placeholder, or note.
- Media Library (folder icon) — Access and organize all your saved media, notes, and links.
- Profile (person icon) — Manage your account settings, billing, notifications, and more.
Top of Screen
- Workspace icon (top left) — Tap your profile icon to switch between workspaces or view the channels in your active workspace.
- Filter/settings icon (top right, sliders) — Opens View Settings to filter posts by status or channel.
Switching Workspaces
Tap the profile icon in the top left corner of the main screen to open the Workspace panel. Here you'll see:
- Your active workspace (marked with a checkmark)
- All channels connected to that workspace, including their connection status (e.g., Reminder-only, Needs refresh, Not connected)
- A Switch Workspace section at the bottom to move between your other workspaces
Tap Manage in the top right of this panel to edit your workspace settings. To add or remove workspaces, or to make billing changes, log in on the web at planoly.com.
Note: To manage Social Sets or make changes to connected channels, we recommend doing this from the web app at planoly.com.

Creating a Post
Tap the + button at the bottom center of the screen. You'll see three options:
- Note — Add a planning note to your calendar
- Placeholder — Reserve a spot in your grid without media
- Post — Create a new post with media
Setting Up Your Post
When you tap Post, the post creation screen opens. Here's how it works:
1. Select your channels
At the top of the screen, you'll see your connected channels. Tap a channel icon to add or remove it from this post. You can post to multiple channels at once. Channels are grouped as:
- My linked channels — Fully connected and eligible for auto-post
- More channels (Reminder only) — Connected for scheduling reminders but not auto-post (e.g., Twitter/X, Threads, Amazon)
Tap the + button on the left to add more channels.
2. Choose your post type
For Instagram, tap the dropdown next to the Instagram icon to choose between Post/Reel. Other channels will follow their own format.
3. Add media
Tap the media upload area to add photos or videos. You can upload up to 10 items per post. Supported formats: JPG, PNG, MP4, MOV.
When you tap the upload area, a Choose source sheet will appear with the following options:
- From library — Choose from your Planoly Media Library
- Camera roll — Select from your device's photos and videos
- Camera — Take a new photo or video
- Stock media — Browse free stock content powered by Dupe (requires opt-in)
- Dropbox — Import from Dropbox
- Google Drive — Import from Google Drive
4. Write your caption
Tap the "Write a caption..." field to add your caption. You'll see two icons below the caption field:
- Sparkle icon (AI) — Generate a caption using AI
- # icon — Insert a saved hashtag set from your Keywords & Captions library
5. Add post details (optional)
A row of icons below the caption lets you add:
- Location — Search and tag a location
- Tag people — Tag up to 5 users on your image; also invite up to 3 collaborators
- Shopping bag — Add product tags (where supported)
- Comment bubble — Add a first comment
- Video icon — Add a title and description (required for YouTube auto-post)
- Image icon — Add or manage alt text
6. Channel-specific content
If your post is going to multiple channels and you need to customize the caption or details per channel, tap the individual channel icon at the top to switch to that channel's settings. The "Applied to all channels" indicator will show when content is synced across all channels.
7. Resolve any issues before scheduling
If there are problems with your post (e.g., a YouTube title is missing, or a description doesn't meet platform requirements), a warning badge will appear on the channel icon and on the Schedule button. Tap the warning to see an Issues to fix list with specific details.
Scheduling a Post
At the bottom of the post creation screen, you'll see two buttons:
- Save draft — Saves the post without scheduling it
- Schedule — Opens the scheduling panel
Posting Method
Before scheduling, choose your Posting Method:
- Bell icon (Reminder) — You'll get a push notification at the scheduled time to manually post
- Auto-post — Planoly will automatically publish your post at the scheduled time (available for fully connected channels)

When you tap Schedule, a calendar sheet opens. From here:
- Select a date by tapping it on the calendar

- Optionally tap Set up under Quick Schedule · Best Times to configure your best times to post
You can also choose:

Once your date and time are set, tap Confirm schedule. To remove a scheduled time, tap Unschedule.
After scheduling, your post will appear in the List View and Calendar with a Scheduled status badge and the channel icons it's going to.

Managing Workspaces from Profile

- Workspace name
- Number of connected channels
- Channel icons
- Active workspace (highlighted with a border)
Tap any workspace to view or manage it.
Tips & Notes
- Reminder-only channels (Twitter/X, Threads, Amazon, and some others) can be included in a post, but Planoly will send you a push notification at the scheduled time rather than auto-posting. You'll complete the post manually in that app.
- Channel connection issues show up in red under the channel name in the Workspace panel (e.g., "Needs refresh"). Tap the three-dot menu next to the channel to reconnect.
- Post validation errors appear before scheduling. If you see a warning badge on the Schedule button, tap it to see exactly what needs to be fixed before the post can go out.
- Customizing per channel — When posting to multiple channels, you can write different captions, add channel-specific details (like a YouTube title), or schedule at different times per platform.
- Adding to your plan on web — Some actions like adding or removing workspaces, upgrading your plan, or managing team members are best done from planoly.com.
